More employers than ever before are looking for help in designing and administering health promotion programs for their employees. In fact, a recent survey by Forrester found that 27% of employers will be using health promotion programs as their primary cost-cutting strategy over the next two years.1 TPA giant Meritain [Health] also recently announced a new wellness service for its groups. According to Janice Rahm, Meritain's Senior Vice President of Product and Service Development, the new service is a response to two key factors. The first was a recent study that found that more than 85% of the diagnoses made today are preventable. The other was the increase in the number of groups who requested help in starting a wellness program from Meritain. As these trends continue, health benefit administrators should consider adding wellness services to their portfolio. Read more...
