Support for Those Affected by Hurricane Helene

Our thoughts are with everyone recently impacted by Hurricane Helene. The following resources are available for our members and families who may have been affected.

Resources for Living®

Resources for Living (RFL) is opening its phone lines and offering support and resources to individuals and organizations who have been affected. Through this liberalization, those in need of support can access RFL services whether or not they have it as part of their benefits.

    • Individuals and organizations who don’t have RFL should contact 833.327.AETNA (1.833.327.2386).
    • Members and plan sponsors who do have RFL should use the designated RFL phone number available in their program materials.

Liberalized services include:

    • In-the-moment phone support to help callers cope with the emotional impact of the event.
    • Resource research and referral to guide callers to local services to meet their needs.
    • Informational brochures about dealing with a crisis (use the Coping with different types of crises drop-down at the bottom of the list).
    • Crisis support website including support services in the local area (click the link to Current national events for the most current listing of resources, if available).
      • Note: This site is available to the public for those who do not have RFL for EAP services. Plan sponsors and members should use their RFL website to get full access to the online resources and tools.
    • Management consultation to help organizations respond to the needs of their employees, even if they’re not RFL customers.
      • Employers may contact the specialized support line at 866.579.4684.
      • On-site services are available on a fee-for-service basis for companies to help their employees recover from the impact of these events on the workplace.
VSP™ Vision Care

VSP is working directly with network doctors, business partners and relief agencies, including the American Red Cross, to assess the situation and fulfill eye care needs of those directly affected. If employees have been impacted, no-cost eye care and replacement eyewear are available, whether individuals are currently VSP members or not.

Additionally:

    • Any VSP member who has lost or broken their eyewear due to the hurricane can call the Member Services Support Line at 800.877.7195 to have their VSP benefits reinstated regardless of eligibility.
    • Individuals without VSP coverage can contact their local American Red Cross chapter and request a VSP Vision Eyes of Hope gift certificate.

We’d like to thank our partners for the help they’re offering during this time of need. If you need more information on further available resources, Meritain Health® representatives are ready to help.
